Newquip moves to new premises

Newquip, the sole UK distributor of Big Dutchman poultry and pig equipment, has demonstrated its commitment to the industry by moving to a new, purpose-built office and warehouse facility close to its previous headquarters in North Yorkshire. The new building was officially opened by Bernd Meerpohl, the son of Joseph Meerpohl, who founded Big Dutchman.
Managing director Philip Dye said the new premises at Leeming Bar will increase efficiency and improve customer service. Biosecurity has been treated as a priority, with a vehicle washing area, staff showers and laundry facilities. The site provides 19,000 sq ft of warehouse, with all the storage under one roof. A showroom has also been incorporated, to display a selection of the products that are available.
Newquip was formed in 2000, after Mr Dye left his job at Poultry First, where he ran the equipment division. His family business now employs some 26 permanent staff, as well as working with a number of self-employed teams, which install equipment for all sectors of the poultry and pig industry.
Mr Dye said he had no hesitation when the opportunity for expansion arose.
“You could say that I have put all my eggs in one basket, because our family business only sells Big Dutchman equipment,” he explained. “But it is only the continuing support of Big Dutchman, and its constant innovation and commitment to new products, that has allowed us to realise this project.”
