Loford dairy youngstock dispersal sees 6,900gns high
Kivells dispersed the entire crop of youngstock from the highly regarded Loford herd at Holsworthy Market, Devon on behalf of the Wade Family of
The Wade family have over the years invested heavily into well-known international cow families and this dispersal sale resulted in a mouth-watering catalogue of deep pedigrees, every animal sold with at least five generations of VG or EX dams.
Leading the trade was Loford Damion Rhonda a 15 month old heifer by Erbacres Damion and bred from 11 generations of VG/EX cows going back to Glenbridge Citation Roxy EX97. She sold to Sheikha Noora Bin Alkhalifa of Bahrain for her Sahara herd in Monmouthshire,
Next in the money was Loford Bolton Fifi a Sandy-Valley Bolton heifer bred from nine generations of VG/EX going back to the Plushanski Chief Faith EX94. She sold in calf and due in January to Picston Shottle for 3,000gns to Messrs S R Houlford and Partners of Barnstaple.
The Fifi’s were certainly in demand with Loford Shottle Fifi 22 by Picston Shottle from the same family selling incalf and due the end of November to Gerrard for 2,800gns to Mr Laarveld of Winkleigh.
The only red and white in the sale was the first lot through the ring being Loford Rampage Meggie Red and this powerful heifer by Rampage Red was bred from 14 generations of VG and EX cows from the Meggie family and she sold incalf and due in December to Robert Page of West Sussex for his Blanches herd.
The youngest portion of the catalogue were an outstanding run of calves which could grace any show ring and really looked on tremendous form and rightfully so created fierce bidding with Loford Shottle Lausine a Picston Shottle daughter with seven generations of VG and EX cows behind her from the famous Laurie Sheik family. This stunning calf born last October sold for 2,500gns to Messrs Hussell of Shebbear for their well-established Perrins herd.
The final lot through the ring was the much awaited Loford Shottle Renita by Picston Shottle and bred from seven generations of VG and EX cows going back to Stelbro Renita Ranger Red EX94. She was only born in April and was a beautiful stylish calf with an exciting future ahead of her and the hammer finally fell at 2500gns to the Smale family of Launceston for their Glebewin herd.
