Llandovery in-lamb Texels sell to 720gns
The last minute rearrangement of the Llandovery in-lamb Texel sale due to the pre-Christmas weather or the ad hoc sale ring didn’t seem to deter the buyers from Llandovery on 29 December.
The sale was dominated by the South West with 47 of the 57 entered from the Loosebeare, Peacehay and Rowden flocks. Blood from South Wales, however, had a major influence in the higher priced lots.
Top of the day was a Cennen Magnum daughter from Loosebeare at 720gns. She was in Lamb to Loosebeare Priceless, a Glendside Nosey Parker son. Top from Peacehay was another Magnum daughter at 600gns. Magnum was of course bred by club member Hywel Thomas and was top price in the 2007 NSA sale in Builth. This gimmer was in lamb to the top price ram from this year’s NSA the 8200gns Scolton Panther. He was bred by the Reed family, themselves club members.
Mr Watts’ Rowden flock topped at 400gns for a Haddo Matador daughter in lamb to Loosebeare Osprey.
There were some nice ewes forward by the local vendor’s. Gwyn Davies’ Trefere flock sold to 380gns for a Glenside Okey-Dokey daughter in lamb to Trefere Morris II. Keith Evans sold his Scurlage Castle gimmer by Trujim Newsboy and in lamb to Aman Karwyn to Club Chair Trudy Davies for 310gns.
