Limousin females sell to 9000gns at Carlisle
Prices at Friday’s sale of Limousin females at Carlisle which featured a reduction sale from the Castlwigg herd, as well as the bi-annual sale from the Chatsworth herd and other drafts, were headed at 9000gns by one from the Kaprico herd of the Stafford family.
Taking the day’s top call was Kaprico Chrysanthemum, an Ionesco daughter out of Kaprico Tansy, a Ronick Hawk daughter which is full sister to the 2006 Royal Show breed champion Kaprico Ultimate. With a beef value of +47, this January 2007-born heifer sold to the Mintlaw-based Emslies herd of Harry Emslie and Lynwen Evans.Second best price of the day was 5500gns bid for Chrysanthemum’s bull calf Kaprico Fleuron. This February-born Wilodge Tonka son sold with a beef value of +42 to Breconside Farming, Moffat.
Then selling at 4200gns was the next lot in the ring, Kaprico Coquette, again from the Staffords. She is by Ionesco and out of the 2006 Royal Show breed champion Kaprico Ultimate, a Hawk daughter. She has a beef value of +39 and was born in December 2007. She sold to D B Davies, Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire.
Making 2700gns was Chatsworth Daniella from the Chatsworth herd. Sired by Procters Trooper and out of Chatsworth Vita,a Ronick Ivan daughter, she is an April 2008-born heifer and sold having run with both Haltcliffe Valiant and Fedneyhouse Dannyboy. She has a beef value of +28 and sold to D P Reed, Monkokehampton, Devon.
A pair sold at 2500gns, the first being Marlepark Debussy from Castlewigg Farming. This May 2008-born heifer is by Normande Tuscan and out of Marlepark Ubongo, a Ronchon daughter. She sold having run with Ampertaine Bravo with a beef value of +17 and was also bought by D P Reed.
The other to make this money was Kaprico Firecrest, a Sympa sired bull calf out of the 4200gns cow Kaprico Coquette. This February-born bull has a beef value of +40 and was bought by James and Sarah Cooper for the Tomschoice herd.
Selling at 2350gns was Marlepark Angel, a Normande Tuscan daughter from Castlewigg Farming. She is an August 2005-born cow out of Normande Pantomime, a Trifolium McGonagall daugther and sold with a beef value of +33 and her May-born bull calf by Haltcliffe Bill at foot. Buyer of this one was C E Pattinson, Blackford, Carlisle.
