Irish eyes are smiling after lifting Perth Aberdeen Angus title
Irish breeders Gerard, Aiden and David Reynolds are the happiest men in Perth today as their intermediate bull Bunlahy Bilty has just taken the overall Aberdeen Angus championship under judge David Lucas.
By Jerusalem Faraday, a Royal Stockman son, and out of homebred cow Bunlahy Beverly, a Jeremy Eric of Bridgefoot daughter, Bilty has an impressive show record having stood Irish national calf champion last year and taking the Irish two year old bull title earlier this year.
Standing reserve overall to Bilty was the senior champion, Auldhouseburn Prince Gold from Orkney-based breeder Hugh Blackwood. This one is by 7000gns sire Duncanziemere Judge and out of Lockerley Princess.
Lifting the reserve senior honours was Kenneth Howie’s June 2006 born Cairnton Karoo who has a terminal sire index of 15. This one is by Blelack Evergreat and out of Wedderlie Karisma. He sells with a self replacing index of 24.
Reserve intermediate was Tom Rennie’s Mosston Muir Bold Mosston. By legendary sire Darlene Cruz and out of homebred cow Beautiful Marlyn of Mosston Muir, Bold Mosston sells with a terminal sire index of 25 and a self replacing index of 22. With figures like these and a sound pedigree to match he could be one of the stars of the sale later today.
Taking the junior championship was Neil Wattie with his entry Tonley Julian. This Tonley Annand son out of Northern Samurai sired dam Tonley Julia carries a terminal sire index of 19.
Reserve junior was Moir Lockhead’s Glassel Eagle Knight. This March 2007 born entry is by Blelack Knight and out of Blelack Eliza.
