In-milk cattle in demand at Carlisle

Demand for in-milk cattle is still seemingly outstripping supply at Carlisle, with last week’s Border and Lakeland Holstein Club seeing trade top at 1850gns for the day’s pre-sale champion Wormanby Talent Ricki from the Hodgson family.

This Ladino Park Talen daughter from a long line of Ex and VG calves was fresh from her second calving and sold to R D and L McKelvey, Lockerbie.

Then at 1820gns was Stowbeck Decker Pansey from Skirwith Hall Farms, this Far-O-La-Debbi-Jo Decker daughter  is bred from five generations of Ex and VG dams. She sold to R G and W Whitfield, Silloth.

At the same money was Keirmans Dynamo Roselind, from M Young, Beucahn Farm, Keir. She is a Nethersode Dynamo daughter out of a comestar Outside sired dam and sold to T W Fawcett, Blencoe. And three then sold at 1800gns.

Averages; four cows in milk ÂŁ1719.38, 11 heifers in milk ÂŁ1760.18 (Harrison and Hetherington).
