Dipping is most cost-effective may to protect sheep

A new scab and lice sheep dip was launched at the NSA Welsh Sheep event by Animax Veterinary Technology, which claimed dipping was the most cost effective way of protecting sheep.
“Farmers know that dips are effective against both scab mites and lice, as well as blowfly, keds and ticks,” said vet Les Porter, who heads up the Suffolk based company.
Paracide 62 was the only Diazinon based sheep dip manufactured in the UK, and it was supplied with a closed transfer system that ensured accurate and safe transfer of concentrated dip chemical into the bath.
The company also marketed an enzyme to break down the Diazinon in spent sheep dip, though farmers still required a waste disposal licence.
