Workshop to cut emissions from dairy farms
Dairy farmers in south west England are invited to a free workshop to find out how to cut emissions from their farms while also improving their bottom line.
The event, run by Farming Futures, will take place at Montgomery Farms in North Cadbury, Somerset, where the dairy has recently undertaken a carbon footprint exercise.
A number of discussion sessions will look at practical ways that dairy farmers can cut emissions.
Led by experts they will explore feeding and health, nutrient and manure management, and energy and renewables.
Presentations will also include Karen Wonnacot from DairyCo, Hayley Campbell-Gibbons from the NFU, and Graham Wilkinson from Arla Foods.
Madeleine Lewis, Farming Futures strategic adviser said: “Processors, retailers and consumers are now asking more questions about the environmental impacts of food production, and farmers have to keep ahead of the game.
“But there are ways that farmers in the south west can reduce their emissions whilst at the same time producing top quality sustainable products and maximising returns.”
Carbon & Farming – turning science into practice on your farm takes place on 29 July from 9.30am to 15.00pm
