Leading dairy farmer opens his doors for farm walk
Farmers Weekly’s Dairy Farmer of the Year and Farmer Focus writer Thomas Steele is opening his doors for a farm walk.
Herd health planning, genetic selection and future investment will come under the microscope when Thomas Steele and his family open their gates at Kircubbin, County Down on 21 August for a farm walk, jointly organised by the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers and National Milk Records.
The event will feature presentations from vets and other specialists within the dairy sector, after which there will be an opportunity to find out more about Mr Steele’s attention to detail, use and understanding of technology and their business plan for growth which is resulting in the 400 cow herd currently averaging 10,555 litres and leaving a profit before drawings of 6p/litre.
Admission is free; registration essential. For further details see www.rabdf.co.uk
