CIWF raises funds to launch anti-Nocton bus campaign

Compassion in World Farming is launching the next stage of its campaign against the proposed super dairy at Nocton – messages on a fleet of buses.

The animal welfare charity has raised more than £3000 which will fund a bus campaign in Lincolnshire.

The message will read: “Mega-dairies have no place in the UK, and cows belong in fields”.

“When the plans are re-submitted to North Kesteven council, local objections to the farm will carry huge weight,” said the group’s website.

“Hundreds of local residents objected to the initial mega-dairy plans earlier this year. Now, in the face of a PR offensive from the farm’s backers, we need to help local campaigners galvanise even more people into action.”

CIWF’s campaigning against plans for a 8100 dairy unit have already won the organisation celebrity backing.

Actor William Roache, who plays Ken Barlow in the TV soap Coronation Street, conservationist Bill Oddie and comedienne Jo Brand have all offered their support to the campaign.
