Breconside outfit makes 23,000gns at Carlisle
A strong Limousin trade produced impressive averages for bulls while three dispersals saw strong bids secure elite females at Carlisle last week (16 October).
The leading lady for Breconside Farming, Moffat, was second calver Breconside Olympia, who sold with her Gunnerfleet Nato daughter at foot for 23,000gns.
Olympia went home with Messrs Ewing, Annan, Dumfriesshire, for 14,000gns and her calf, Rosetta, sold to Messrs McKeag, Newtonards, County Down, for 9,000gns.

Olympia is by the Ampertaine Elgin daughter Elite Icecream and out of the Wilodge Cerberus dam Breconside Jane. She was in-calf again to Nato.
William Barron, Burnhope, Durham, dispersed 41 years of breeding and saw a cow and calf outfit top at 19,500gns.
The cow, Barrons Mylassy, is a May 2016-born Mereside Godolphin daughter out of the Sarkley Volvo dam Barrons Classy. She was knocked down to Messrs Tennant, Fraisthorpe, Bridlington, in-calf to Huntershall Nutcracker.
Her bull calf, Barrons Stan, sold to Messrs Ridley, Hesket Newmarket, Cumbria, for 4,500gns. He is Mylassy’s third calf and is by Carrickmore Maximus.
The Barrons herd also sold a cow and calf outfit for 12,000gns to Boden and Davies, Mellor, Stockport. The dam was the January 2014-born Loosebeare Fantastic daughter Barrons Jambie, which is out of the Sarkley Volvo daughter Barrons Bambi. She sold in-calf to Barrons Major and with her heifer calf, Barrons Sambie, by Kinniside Novel, at foot.
Westpit females from A and J Gammie, Laurencekirk, Aberdeenshire, topped at 12,000gns for Westpit Millie which sold to Miller Farms, Midmar, Inverurie. She is by Jalex Itsallgood and out of the Samy daughter Westpit Becky.
Her heifer calf, Silly, is by Dinmore Immense. Millie sold in-calf after running with Johnstown Premier and Westpit Ollie.
Bulls to 28,000gns
Maraiscote Reagan from J Nimmo, Newmains, Wishaw, topped trade for males at 28,000gns. He caught the eye of Messrs Lewis, Buttington, Welshpool.
Reagan is by Bassingfield Machoman and out of the Goldies Comet daughter Maraiscote Gabby. He won the best bull calf in 2020 at the Scottish Limousin Club herd competition.
Next, at 21,000gns, was Pabo Randy. He was shared between Messrs Smith-Jackson, Melkridge, Haltwhistle, and Messrs White, Lunedale, Middleton-in-Teesdale.
Randy is a Netherhall Jackpot son which goes back to Requin and is out of the Pabo General daughter Pabo Iceman.
Next, at 17,000gns, was Whinfell Park Rhapsody from Messrs Jenkinson, Clifton Moor, Penrith. He sold to Messrs Jones, Llanarth, Dyfed.
He is by the Gunnerfleet Hicks son Gunnerfleet Lion and out of Dolcorsllwyn Fabio daughter Whinfellpark Iva.
The first of two to hit 16,000gns was another Machoman son from the Maraiscote herd, this time called Ribery. Messrs Massie, Auchnagatt, Ellon, produced the winning bid.
Ribery is out of the Goldies Comet daughter Maraiscote Firtree. A full brother to Ribery made 15,000gns in May 2020.
Shaws Rover from M and F Burns, Kirkmichael, Ayrshire, also made 16,000gns. This time Messrs Mash, Chesham, Buckinghamshire, were the winning bidders.
Rover is the first bull born out of the Ella line. He is by the Ampertaine Foreman son Goldies Jackpot and out of the Grahams Unbeatable daughter Shaws Marabella.
