Bluetongue meeting for Cornish producers
The extension of the bluetongue control zone and continued discovery of new cases of the disease by pre-movement testing are rightly prompting farmers to seek more information on the disease, its control and prevention.
With that in mind, the NSA and LAA have organised the next in their ongoing series of bluetongue meetings for farmers in Cornwall at Lakeview Country Club, Lanivet, Bodmin on Wednesday, 5 March.
Supported by NFU, NBA and Farmers Weekly, the meeting will address issues currently on farmers’ minds, particularly the prospect of vaccine manufacture and delivery.
Ben Messer-Bennets of the LAA says bluetongue is potentially the most devastating animal disease to hit the UK livestock sector.
“It is vital all farmers are aware of the threat this disease poses to their animals and livelihoods and ensure they are as informed as they can be about it.”
- The meeting will begin at 7.30pm and anyone wishing to attend should contact NSA on 01684 892 661.
