Bentham Auctions’ Christmas Show & Sale of Store Cattle, saw both the Champion & Reserve Rossette being awarded to John & Jill Harper of Killington for the second year running by the pre-sale judges Mr Keith Harryman, Keswick & Mr James Crichton, Egremont.
The Champion animal (a BBx Hfr) later went onto sell for £900.00 to Mr Frank Towers, Wray. The Reserve (a BB Steer) selling for £870 to Nathan & Carol Brown, Littledale.
The market’s Christmas Show & Sale of Prime Cattle saw the Championship being awarded to Mr Graham Jackson, Bentham by the pre-sale judge Mr Frank Towers. The Limousin x Steer weighed in at 542kg and achieved the days top price of 250p/kg (£1355.00), the animal was purchased by the judge on behalf of Mike Tighe, Whittakers Butchers of Walney Island.
The Champion Rearing Calf at the show was awarded to Andrew Long of Ulverston. Out of a strong entry of 107 forward, the judge for the morning, Mr Matthew Waller awarded the Championship Trophy & Rossette to the 6week old Limousin x Bull Calf. The Calf went onto to sell later for £350.00 to Mr Colin Baxter, Garforth.
Meanwhile, the market’s Prime Lamb Show Championship for the second year running was awarded to GR&A Foy & Son of Conder Green. The lambs selected from a strong show by the pre-sale judge Mr Andrew Dawson, went onto sell for £86.00 (209p/kg) to Mr Andrew Atkinson on behalf of S Howarth Butchers.
