About 60 cattle found dead at East Anglian farm

An investigation is underway on a farm in East Anglia by Suffolk Trading Standards after approximately 60 cattle were found to have died.

Although the investigation is yet to conclude, it is understood there is no risk of disease from the case.

The council is thought to have received an anonymous tip-off about concerns on the farm near the Norfolk border with Suffolk.

Suffolk Trading Standards said they were working with animal health organisations to investigate the matter and veterinary advice is being implemented by the owners concerning the remainder of the herd.

Katya Mira, of the RSPCA, told the Eastern Daily Press: “We are very concerned to hear about this upsetting incident and are happy to help Trading Standards with any assistance they may need.”

Trading Standards officers urged anyone who is concerned about the welfare of farm animals to report it via the Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 03454 040506.
