Private investors and tenant farmers competed strongly for the Aldwark Estate in the Vale of York, pushing some lots well in excess of their guide. Carter Jonas sold the 2000-acre estate for a Bristol-based charity, the St Monica Trust. With four tenanted farms, four blocks of bare land, and one vacant farm, it attracted a wide range of buyers, including sitting tenants, private farmers and small investors. “We had very strong interest in the tenanted portfolio, and overall we were very happy with the sale results,” said the firm’s Tom Whitehead. “This type of investment is certainly showing its resilience to the challenging economic conditions.”
