Yield Watch: High yields reported
Higher yields than expected continue to be reported to Farmers Weekly‘s wheat Yield Watch survey, with plenty of growers submitting yields of over 10t/ha from all over the country.
Not surprisingly, Group 4 wheat yields are highest, standing at 9.49t/ha from just over 3,000ha entered. But Group 3 (8.97t/ha) and even Group 1 yields (8.70t/ha) are much higher than many would have predicted before harvest.
Of individual varieties with over 500ha of data submitted, Oakley and Grafton are running neck and neck at 9.65 and 9.62t/ha respectively. Solstice (8.92t/ha) is just ahead of Group 1 rival Gallant (8.56t/ha), while Group 2 Cordiale is averaging 8.39t/ha.
All entries into Farmers Weekly‘s Yield Watch will be entered into a free prize draw to win a Robydome digital grain temperature monitor and four probes worth £300, kindly supplied by Syngenta.
