Video: Is this farming’s most unusual new entrant?

Philosophy graduate Sam Robinson, who was raised in Oxford, would seem a pretty unlikely new entrant to farming.

But with no industry knowledge or background, the 27-year-old moved to the Welsh countryside, joined a rugby team, became a member of a Welsh choir, got a job on a livestock farm and became fluent in Welsh. All in 18 months.

He sounds like a genius to us, but he admits he’s got a lot to learn before he can set out on his own as a farmer.

His toughest challenge to date? Reversing a quad bike and trailer. Well even geniuses have their weak spots.

Is he the most unusual farming entrant or do you know of a more surprising one? Email oli.hill@proagrica.com with your farming story and watch the video below.
