NFU Scotland unveils new membership for SAYFC members

NFU Scotland is launching a new, free membership category specifically designed for the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs (SAYFC).

The announcement, made by chief executive John Davidson at the NFU Scotland (NFUS) conference in Glasgow on Thursday 6 February, aims to strengthen the union’s relationship with younger farmers and ensure their voices are heard in shaping the future of Scottish agriculture.

“We want to see every member of SAYFC join NFU Scotland, and we are working closely with the team to make this a reality,” said Mr Davidson.

“Our goal is to maintain a high membership retention rate, which currently stands at 96%, by attracting new members and ensuring they feel valued and supported.”

The new membership is available to all SAYFC members, providing them with two years of free membership to NFU Scotland.

After this initial period, a modest annual fee will apply, with the discounted offer remaining valid as long as the individual is a member of SAYFC or decides to transition to full NFUS membership.

Additional benefits

In addition to the usual benefits, SAYFC members will also receive exclusive access to UK Fuels fuel cards, vehicle deals, and the monthly Scottish Farming Leader magazine.

They will also be eligible to attend key NFUS events, such as the AGM and on-farm networking opportunities, while benefiting from members’ rates.

Alistair Brunton, national chairman of the SAYFC, welcomed the partnership, calling it a “fantastic opportunity” for young farmers to have their voices heard and be an integral part of shaping agricultural policy.

He added: “This collaboration marks the start of a long-term partnership to strengthen the agricultural sector by standing united.”
