What do farmers want to see in Clarkson’s Farm series 2?
A second series of the smash hit Clarkson’s Farm has been confirmed by Amazon Prime, sparking industry debate about what the presenter-turned-farmer should cover next.
Filming for season two has already started following the success of the first eight episodes which documented Jeremy Clarkson’s efforts to run his own 400ha farm in the Cotswolds, under the watchful eye of his no-nonsense team.

Tractor driver Kaleb, stone-wall favourite Gerald, adviser “Cheerful” Charlie and Mr Clarkson’s better-half-turned-farm-shopkeeper, Lisa, all starred in the first season filmed at Diddly Squat Farm.

The team had to contend with the worst weather in decades, unresponsive crops and the coronavirus pandemic.
‘A happy team’
The new series will launch worldwide on Prime Video and directors said viewers can expect a deeper insight into another farming year for Mr Clarkson as he aims to diversify and expand his agricultural knowledge.
“I’m absolutely delighted that, once again, you’ll be able to spend some time with Cheerful Charlie, Gerald, Lisa and, of course, Kaleb,” said Mr Clarkson. “We are such a happy team.”
The show was an instant hit and has been praised among the industry for showing the ups and downs of UK farming to a huge audience – and a number of viewers have already said what they think the new series should contain.
Farm vet Sarah Tomlinson said on Twitter (@sjtomo157) she wanted to see the second series address bovine TB.
Ms Tomlinson, who is a member of the TB Advisory Service, said farmers are getting on top of the devastating disease but “need the public to understand the impact a breakdown or the chance of a breakdown has on physical and mental health”.
Vicki Hird, head of farming at Sustain, welcomed the new series and said she hoped Mr Clarkson turns his hand to regenerative farming.
Good to hear though hope he goes full scale agroecological, regenerative etc – exploring an organic conversion would do it but id take any steps along the way tbh … he loves the bugs – i can relate to that.#ClarksonsFarm https://t.co/QAFz4KiZCb

Public favourite
Despite only being launched on 11 June, Clarkson’s Farm has earned universal acclaim from TV and movie review site IMDb, scoring above the presenter’s previous work on Top Gear and The Grand Tour, according to analysis by Vertu Motors.
Mr Clarkson rose to household fame over 22 series of Top Gear and transferred many of those loyal fans to The Grand Tour. Yet, Clarkson’s Farm is rated 9% more favourably than The Grand Tour and 13% more favourably than his run on Top Gear.
Writing to Mr Clarkson on Twitter, one Dutch fan of the new show (@_o_HdW_o_) said: “I was slowed down by a tractor on a 80km road. Normally, I would say things like ‘why are you on the road at this time of day’. But after watching your show, I turned up the music and relaxed. Knowing a hardworking person is not wasting five minutes of my time.”
