UK rainfall maps show a decade of extremes

The risk of drought in central, eastern and southern parts of England in spring and summer remains high this year, unless we see prolonged periods of rainfall.

This could have significant impacts on agriculture with more drought permits and customer restrictions on public water supply may be possible, according to the Environment Agency.

Amid the ongoing debate on the effects of climate change on our environment, Farmers Weekly, with the help of the Met Office, has collated annual rainfall maps for the last 10 years which show that predicting the weather in the UK remains as difficult as ever.
