Tell us about Christmas on your farm and win £100

Christmas is a special time of year for everyone – but it’s truly magical on a farm.

It might be because of the family, the food or the beautiful wintry scenery, but 25 December in the countryside is unlike anywhere else.

So we’d like you to tell us what this most special of days means to you. All you have to do is write us a piece of between 500 and 750 words called “My Christmas Day” and you could be on your way to winning the first prize of £100.

You could tell us what the day will have in store for you this year, or you could share a memory from childhood or from when your own kids were small.

Perhaps you’ll choose to recount one particular moment or incident from a previous Christmas – or tell us about a special meal, a visit to church, or what your routine is typically like on the day.

Maybe you’ll share a sense of how Christmas Day differs for you from those of your forebears.

Your piece can be heartwarming or funny or sad – we just want a sense of your seasonal experience and a glimpse of why 25 December is such a special day on farms around the country.

OK, it’s still only November – so a little early to be thinking about the topic – but we’re planning to publish the ones we like best in Farmers Weekly in the run-up to the festive season, so we need your articles in plenty of time.

Just think – as well as the £100 prize for the one we like best, you might get a special gift this year in the form of seeing your words appear in your favourite farming magazine.
