Support on offer for Open Farm Sunday 2025 hosts

Leaf, the organiser of Open Farm Sunday (OFS), is offering its most comprehensive support yet for farmers hosting events in 2025.

OFS offers a unique opportunity for the public to visit farms, connect with farmers, and learn about their essential work in producing food, nurturing nature, and protecting the environment for future generations.

The initiative is encouraging farmers to get involved and open their farm gates on Sunday 8 June 2025.

OFS manager Annabel Shackleton stressed the importance of connecting the public with farming.

“This year, we’re firmly focused on really building on our farmer support, equipping more farmers with the right guidance and tools to host an OFS event in June,” she said.

“By connecting with consumers and inspiring the public to appreciate the sustainable farming practices that nurture nature, we can show how we produce food they can trust, while protecting the environment.”

In preparation for the event, the organisers have scheduled two in-person workshops in March, as well as a series of nine webinars from late January to May.

These sessions are designed to assist both new and experienced OFS hosts with practical advice on running successful open days.

A comprehensive handbook is also available, covering everything a host might need to know, from logistics to engaging visitors.

Workshops

The five-hour workshops will take place in Yorkshire and Berkshire, offering hands-on learning experiences and the opportunity to share insights from previous years.

The webinars will tackle a wide array of topics, including event management, safety protocols, and effective publicity strategies.

According to the event’s 2024 impact report, 96% of the 180,000 visitors left with a greater appreciation of farmers’ work, and 91% were motivated to buy more British produce.

Ms Shackleton believes OFS plays a key role in fostering positive connections and boosting consumer confidence in British farming.
