Photos: Abandoned ruins, moon cows and cute geese

Hundreds of photos – ranging from the picturesque to the quirky – have been entered for the Farmers Weekly Photography Competition.

The closing date for this prestigious contest, which is open to all amateur photographers, isn’t until 30 October – so there’s still time to submit your pictures.

There are eight categories, so enter and you could be in the running for the £250 top prize.

Below are just three of the many submitted so far.

isolated barn in Alllendale

Called The Middle of Nowhere, this was entered into the Landscapes category by FW user “Masham Pete”. It shows an abandoned ruin near Allendale in Northumberland.

cow with moon behind

In the Livestock category, “Sjsskel” got this shot. Apparently, the cow wouldn’t put her head up – but her grazing still makes for a memorable image.

goose and gosling

Meanwhile, in the Wildlife category “Yrammy” got this shot of a goose and gosling. Altogether now: Aaaarrrrrrhhhh!
