Photo of the Week: Harvest festival meets music festival
When we talk about the Harvest Festival ordinarily, indie bands and muddy camping aren’t usually what come to mind.
Yet, at the Boomtown music festival held in the South Downs, farming and music were in full swing side by side – with contract farmer David Cook pictured in the cab of his combine harvester cutting spring barley just a stone’s throw away from the bright lights of the event.

The shot was captured by acclaimed aerial drone photographer Chris Gorman aka The Big Ladder Photographer, who some may remember as the photographer who captured extraordinary images of the world at a standstill during the lockdowns in 2020.
Chris says: “Being relatively local, I’ve photographed Boomtown Fair at night for the past five years.
“This year, however, I was scratching my head to think of a different angle to a picture that generally looks the same every year.
“Upon arrival, I immediately spotted the stunning sight of David’s fully lit combine slowly rolling into view.
“All I had to do was wait until he came into line with Boomtown”.
