Photo of the Week: Grandfather goes to Northallerton Market
This week, we’re highlighting this submission to our People gallery for our Photo Competition 2024.
It is a photo of wholesale butcher Peter Pearson, taken by his nine-year-old grandson William at Northallerton Market in North Yorkshire.
William is known for his smart appearance, politeness and dedication to the farming industry. He loves animals and has had his own cow from a young age, growing his very own herd to five cows.
Peter has just turned 86 years old and is very well known in the farming industry. He still goes to four markets a week to buy cattle for the family butchery business.
The family also have a suckler farm in Bradford running 80 cows, mainly Limousins.
William accompanies his grandfather to the cattle markets when he’s not at school.
