Photo of the Week: Eye-catcher in the flock

The story of the Holstein calf Happy, whose unique markings resemble a smiley face, has been everywhere in the media this week, with the farmers deciding to keep Happy on the farm as a pet.

But we think we can beat the record of the most unusual marking, as one reader sent us a striking photo of a lamb born with markings resembling a sheep face.

After it was born, Fiona’s sister spotted the sheep face on its back, and it’s now a bit of an “eye-catcher in the flock”.

It got us wondering whether our farmer readers would ever justify keeping their animals because of the “cute” factor let us know or better yet, send us pictures of your own farm animal’s unusual markings.
