Pembrokeshire YFC cyclists make £15,000 in mega-fundraiser

Twenty-seven cyclists from Pembrokeshire YFC have pedalled a blistering 250 miles, raising almost £15,000 for three charities.

Members set off for the NFYFC Annual Convention in Blackpool from Haverfordwest Showground on 1 May, spending four days in the saddle collecting cash on their epic journey to the Winter Gardens.

For the past five months, the team has been training and asking people to donate to Wales Air Ambulance, Prostate Cymru and their own federation.

County chairman Non Thorne said: “We’ve had a really tough four days – we’ve done over 250 miles and, because we’ve come from Pembrokeshire, we’ve climbed nearly 15,000ft, which is four times the height of Ben Nevis.”

“Each year the YFC county chairman chooses their own unique challenge or fundraiser, and this year I thought I’d push the boundaries with an endurance challenge.

“The support we’ve received from friends, family and local businesses has been exceptional. We’re truly overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity. I’d like to thank all those who have helped and donated.”
