NFU election date up for discussion
Members of the NFU will this week find out when the union intends to elect a new vice-president.
The union’s ruling body will decide at a meeting on Monday/Tuesday (20/21 April) whether to go for an election this year or wait until next February when officeholders are usually elected.
The gap in the officeholder team has arisen because of the resignation of Paul Temple in March.
Some within the union believe it would be best not to rush into an appointment and share Mr Temple’s workload between the other officeholders and board chairmen.
But other members believe that it important that the top team is at full strength as soon as possible.
