FW Awards ceremony raises over £7,600 for Rabi and Rsabi
On 3 October, the Farmers Weekly Awards ceremony raised an impressive £7,683.20 for two vital charities, Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (Rabi) and Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institution (Rsabi).
The funds raised during the event will be crucial for both Rabi and Rsabi in assisting farmers dealing with the impact of some of the wettest weather on record.
Over the past 18 months, the UK has experienced its heaviest rainfall since 1836, severely affecting crop yields and agricultural operations.
Given the tendency towards a “cashless” society, the 1,200 guests were invited to scan a QR code displayed on their tables and donate that way.
Rabi’s head of fundraising, Paul Pirie, expressed his gratitude: “Can we also extend our sincere thanks to Alma and all the Awards team for all her planning and for making this a wonderful night of celebration. It was a night full of hope for a better future.”
These charities offer a lifeline to those in the agricultural sector, providing financial assistance, advice, and emotional support to farmers and their families in times of need.
The funds raised can go toward essential services such as grants for vital household items, support for mental health issues, and assistance with educational costs for children of farming families.
