Future farmers shine at tiny tractor run

Mini tractors and their drivers were the stars at the recent Ruthin Farmers Auction Christmas Show, with over 50 children taking part in the Tiny Tractor Run.

The festive event, hosted by the Livestock Market, was a highlight for families and the farming community.

Leading up to the show, children and their families decorated their mini tractors with festive lights, tinsel, and even Christmas trees.

The evening kicked off with a convoy of mini tractors parading through the market before heading into the show ring, where Father Christmas was waiting to hand out gifts and receive a warm round of applause from hundreds of spectators.

The gifts from Santa were donated by Ruthin Livestock Market, and the £250 raised through entry fees went to the DPJ Foundation, a Welsh charity supporting mental health in rural communities, particularly among those working in agriculture.

Richard Lloyd, auctioneer at Ruthin Livestock Auction, praised the event: “It has transformed what was our Christmas Show into a Show and Fair that can be enjoyed by all of the family.

“The children are the future of agriculture, and it is nice that we are able to involve them and encourage their interest from a young age.”

Local businesses also showcased their products, providing an opportunity for Christmas shopping.

Event organiser Ceri Lloyd said: “With so much negativity within the agriculture industry, it has been a welcome boost to host such a fun event.

“The feedback has been overwhelming, and we hope the Tiny Tractor Run becomes a firm favourite for years to come.”
