Photo of the Week: OSR harvest 2024 against stormy skies

This picture, sent in by farm manager Toby Lowe, is one of the first photos we’ve received of the 2024 oilseed rape harvest.

It shows the harvest at Saham Grove Farm in Shipdham, Norfolk, which farms just over 1000ha of combinable crops. 

The photo was taken on Friday 28 June on the first day of harvest, combining Ramses Hear oilseed rape at about 9.5% moisture and yielding just over 3t/ha.

Harvest has been stop-start so far, as you can see from the backdrop of threatening skies, but the team has managed to cut about 160ha of OSR in dry conditions.
