Photo of the Week: Love your lambs like Freya
We spotted this snap of young Freya cuddling (or gripping in a headlock – we can’t decide!) a young lamb, and had to post it.
Digging deeper, we then discovered that Freya’s family run Wild Wales Seeds in the Vale of Glamorgan, with the business on course to becoming one of Britain’s largest distributors of wildflowers.

After starting the business in 2020, the family now produce hundreds of varieties of native wildflower and grass seed, drilling more than 120ha in 2021 alone – and even launched a Welsh native wildflower mix to celebrate the late Queen’s platinum jubilee last year.
The Rhys’ journey started after the owner of the farm planned to build a business park on their fields, which led to an opportunity to diversify 350ha and farm wildflowers on the estate of the owner of Fonman Castle.
Building plans were put on ice and business has bloomed (so to speak), with the family welcoming their first lambs in spring 2022.
