Photo of the Week: It’s still Valentine’s Day for Herdwick lamb
Valentine’s Day may be over for this year, but for this little Herdwick lamb, every day is Valentine’s Day.
He’s enjoying a smooch with Rhianna, who is surrogate mum after his natural mum rejected him.
The little lamb is one of a mixed flock of Zwartbles, Herdwicks, Border Leicesters and Suffolk crosses.

Rhianna is based at Belmont Farm, in London, where the team bring the countryside to the city to inspire and educate the public about British agriculture.
Belmont Farm’s farming ethos is to rebuild soil quality and, in the process, sequester carbon and enhance ecosystems.
Rhianna is one of the deputy managers at the farm and also the lead behaviourist. She studied animal behaviour at university and her great grandparents were farmers, so Rhianna has always had an interest in farming.
The farm says she is an inspiration – she was diagnosed with RRMS, a form of multiple sclerosis, in 2021, but has not let this hold her back in her career, which she is passionate about.
Rhianna says: “ I like to be an example for anyone with a chronic health condition that you can do the jobs or the things you want/love, and your conditions don’t necessarily limit you within employment.”
