Photo of the Week: Harvest 2020 throwback
As temperatures drop below freezing this week, we’re taking you back to the glorious blue skies seen here during harvest 2020 with this picture sent to us by 15-year-old Jack Green.
The photo was taken on Pictillum Farm in Kemnay, Aberdeenshire, which is owned in a partnership between Jack’s uncle, Michael Low, and his retired grandparents, Charlie and Lorna Low.
The family farms 38ha of spring oats, spring barley, winter barley, winter oilseed rape and winter wheat.
Since 2020, one of the fields has been rented out to a contractor who used the land to grow carrots, which went to local supermarkets.
A New Holland TX68 can be seen unloading into a Larrington trailer pulled by a Massey Ferguson 6150, as business carried on as usual during what was an extraordinary year – both in terms of the pandemic and exceptional yields at the farm.
