Photo of the Week: Floods and storms batter UK farmland

We chose the photo this week to reflect the hardship that extreme weather is causing farmers in the UK.

Storm Henk was the first storm of 2024 bringing heavy rains and wind – sadly, there are likely to be many more unwelcome weather events on the way.

This picture shows Yorkshire arable farmer Richard Bramley’s submerged land under floodwater up to 3m deep.

Some real questions need to be addressed about how we protect productive land and mitigate the effects of climate change.
