Eddie’s first trip to London was for the farmers’ protest on 19 November 2024. He brought his own pedal tractor from home and wore his Farmers Weekly hat with pride.

He would potentially be the fifth generation of his family to farm in Lamphey, Pembrokeshire, following in the footsteps of his great-great grandfather, great-grandfather, grandfather and father.

Jane told Farmers Weekly: “Farming is in his blood and he already has a fantastic understanding of the industry. Eddie is growing up learning the craft from a young age, being taught by his predecessors.

“I don’t think he will ever forget pedalling around Parliament Square to fight for his future.”

Windsor Farm currently runs 2,500 breeding ewes, 40 suckler cows and arable crops. For the last six years, since Eddie’s arrival, the family has also diversified into a home-grown pumpkin patch on the farm.

The farm and land has been slowly built up over the generations and was originally a tenanted farm, now with owned and rented land.

On the impact of changes to inheritance tax (IHT) and business property relief in the Autumn Budget, Jane added: “Even with everything we are currently producing on the farm, the changes to IHT and business property relief will have a detrimental effect on the farm.

“Ultimately land will have to be sold to pay the tax, therefore farm output is lost and even less income. What a vicious circle!”

“A big thank you to Pembroke Farmers Club for organising transport to London and also to the organisers of the protest.”
