He now offers a hydraulic auto-reset version of his 3, 5 and 7-leg subsoiler, which previously just had shearbolts to provide protection to the legs. The main customers are likely to be Scots and Irish farmers, who routinely have to cope with lumps of stone just under the soil surface that can wreak havoc on machinery.

The extra costs of the auto-reset on top of the usual £12,439 price of a three-leg machine is £2,040.
