Walk round any farm show and you’ll see the familiar tractor marques like MF, New Holland, Deutz, Zetor and so on. But, increasingly, new names from China, Korea and India are heading for the UK too, with attractive price tags and increasingly sophisticated kit and build quality.

Indian maker Solis has been in Europe for three years with its Sonalinka brand and has sold about 1,000 tractors in that time. It now has a new UK importer logically called Solis Tractors UK, based in Lincoln, has taken them on. It’s a pretty big maker, with 80,000 tractors sold each year and importers operating in many European countries.

At the moment, the biggest model is the 90hp CRDi 90 model, but a 110hp model is due any time and a 180hp is on the stocks, too. The spec is pretty simple but the tractor looks well made, with a 12+12 synchro gearbox, 540/540E pto, 2,500kg rear lift and 40kph top speed. Price is £21,995.
