Livestock 2014: Emily reveals Delta bale unroller
French loader attachment maker Emily had its usual range of natty fodder-handling equipment at the Livestock Event, including an updated version of its Delta bale unroller.
It uses a detachable two-pronged, 45mm bale spike to load the bale before hooking on to the unrolling unit. The spikes slip in underneath the metal body and tabs on the frame lock the unroller in position once it is in the air.
U-bolts connect the box-section frame of the spikes to the headstock and the whole thing can also be mounted on a three-point linkage should there be any telehandler breakdowns.

Once coupled up, the loader’s auxiliary service drives oil to the unwrapper’s hydraulic motor. Like most similar machines it uses toothed wheels to unravel a bale in 90 seconds and, handily, you can throw the material either side.
The Delta is designed to work with round bales of hay, silage, straw and lucerne up to 1.8m in diameter. Total weight of the metalwork is 700kg and there are locking pins to stop it leaping off the hook along the road. Prices start at £4,900.
