Livestock 2014: Delaval robot feeder


Livestock 2014 marked the UK debut of Delaval’s robot feeder. This automatic mixing hopper produces about 3t of ration, which passes up a conveyor belt and into the robotic feed wagon.

This then follows a rail and drops off the feed next to the barrier. Four or five feeds a day are typical, says the company, and the main benefit is freshness of feed. Several systems are at work in northern Europe (especially Sweden and Denmark) and the first UK customers are expected soon.
