Dairy farmers who use sand to provide bedding for cubicles will know only too well how long it can take to level the sand each day.

Help has now arrived in the form of the motorised rotary rake which has been produced by Devon firm DP Agri.

Attached to the front of a skidsteer or small tractor loader, the unit has an extending arm which places the rake into the cubicle. A hydraulically powered rake then rotates at about 15rpm to level out the sand.

The manufacturer says the system not only prevents sand being wasted but it also takes only a few seconds to do each cubicle. Price is £4,800.
