Nominate your 2023 Farming Champion
Lots of people in agriculture make a difference, but do you know someone who really goes the extra mile?
We’re launching the hunt for the 2023 Farmers Weekly Farming Champion of the Year, so we want to hear about people whose work has made a real difference over the past 12 months.

How they’ve done it could be varied. They might, for example, be promoting or representing our industry or a sector within it, or even developing business models, technology or practices that will benefit many producers.
In the past, this award has recognised farmers for their educational work, for raising awareness of mental health issues and for lobbying supermarkets.
It’s also been awarded to a filmmaker who depicted the realities of rural life, plus the TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson for his show, Clarkson’s Farm.
In 2022, it was given to “the farmers of Ukraine”, who showed such courage, resolve and ingenuity to keep farms running in the face of the Russian invasion.
Don’t be discouraged from nominating by assuming it is only famous people who can win, though. Often this award has been scooped by an ordinary person doing an extraordinary thing.
So let us know if you have a relative, friend, neighbour or colleague who could fit the bill. Alternatively, it’s fine to nominate yourself.
All we need is a name and a line or two about why they – or you – are worthy of the title (you can even nominate anonymously if you’d like) and we’ll take it from there.
If you’re nominating someone else, it might be a person you know, but it’s equally fine if you’ve never met them.
The key thing is that their achievements and efforts on behalf of farming, the countryside, food and the ancillary sectors is something you admire.
Help us recognise and reward the work of someone who in past year has gone above and beyond the call of duty to make a real difference to the lives of others.
