FW Lifetime Achievement Award 2021: Call for nominations

Nominations are now open for one of the most coveted awards in agriculture – the 2021 Farmers Weekly Lifetime Achievement Award.

Each year, this very special award is given to an individual who has made a sustained contribution to either agriculture, the countryside or the people who live and work there over many years.

The 2020 winner was His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, who launched the Prince’s Countryside Fund and has always been a strong advocate for British farming, raising awareness of the issues affecting it and fighting to secure its future.

Previous winners include: Linking Environment and Farming (Leaf) chief executive Caroline Drummond; the Reverend Dr Gordon Gatward; Lord Curry of Kirkharle; and the late Prof John Alliston.

We’re looking for people who have made a big difference to our industry over decades – but we’re open-minded as to what that may have involved.

It might, for example, be for work in education, spearheading new technology, driving efficiencies or environmental gains. Equally, though, it might be through having helped the next generation, through charitable work or by playing a key role in one of the many organisations that work on behalf of farmers.

The winner of this award, sponsored by UPL, might be a full-time farmer or involved in one of the ancillary sectors – but, whatever they do, their successes over a long period will have proved beneficial to agriculture and rural areas.

Just nominate someone you think would make a worthy winner (it doesn’t matter whether you know them personally or not), and we’ll keep your nomination confidential if you ask us to.

To play your part in helping find someone deserving of this special award, tell us who you would like to nominate, and why, and include any supporting information if you can. Email your nomination to alma.watson@markallengroup.com.
