British machinery makers flock to Agritechnica
British farm machinery companies are heading to the biennial Agritechnica show – the world’s biggest – in unprecedented numbers this year.
According to the show organiser’s website, 62 UK machinery makers will be exhibiting at this year’s show, compared to 40 in 2011 and 31 in 2009.
That figure may look small when compared with the 100 companies coming from France and the 119 from Holland, not to mention the 367 firms coming from Italy or the 1,284 German companies that will be at the show. However it’s ahead of nations such as Canada (54 exhibitors), Denmark (46), USA (45) and India (32).
Many of the UK companies manning stands in the 26 halls (covering 40ha), are regulars such as Claydon drills, Househam sprayers, Bomford Turner, RDS and Weaving Machinery.
This year’s band of UK exporters has some new faces – among them hi-tech grain kit maker Martin Lishman, drill manufacturer Moore Unidrill (whose drill is pictured above), slurry tanker and muckspreader maker Harry West and hedger, mower and header maker Shelbourne Reynolds.
In a first for UK ag-based educational establishments, Harper Adams College will be there, too.
