This season’s variable weather looks set to leave a legacy of low milk yields and reduced margins this coming winter.
Somerset farmer David Cotton is one of many dairy producers feeling the pinch, with production down 2-3 litres a cow and 6p/litre wiped off his margin in October.
Aly Balsom caught up with him at the end of November on his farm near Glastonbury to discuss the impact of this year on his business.
