Saputo raises January milk price to 35p/litre
© Tim Scrivener Dairy farmers supplying the Davidstow cheese business through Saputo Dairy UK (SDUK) will receive a 2.35p/litre milk price rise from 1 January, taking the standard manufacturing price for their milk to 35p/litre.
The price uplift is in response to farmer representative body Davidstow Creamery Direct’s (DCD) concerns about inflationary pressure on its suppliers.
DCD chairman Stephen Bone said he was pleased SDUK had responded to those concerns with a significant price increase for January.
“It is much needed and will be welcomed by our members,’’ he said.

SDUK, a Canadian-owned company which bought Dairy Crest in 2019, acknowledged that farmers currently faced uncertainty in many aspects of their business.
Head of milk procurement Alexa Parker said the company’s priority was to offer its suppliers a stable and competitive milk price over the long term.
