Lawrie and Symington sold 388 prime and cast sheep on Monday (24 June), along with 44 prime cattle and 52 cast cows. New season lambs averaged 236.39p/kg and sold to 286.4p for a 44kg Texel, while hoggets peaked at 212.5p for a 36kg Texel and averaged 161.5p/kg. Texels also topped the cast ewe and ram section at ÂŁ108.50.

In the cattle ring, a 545kg Limousin heifer took the day’s top price of 274p/kg, with bullocks selling to 245p. Overall, butchers’ cattle averaged 244.8p/kg. A Limousin also headed the cast cow section, at 181p/kg. Beef cows averaged 148.3p, with dairy cows settling at 121.9p and reaching a peak of 145.8p/kg.

Store bullocks averaged 219.6p/kg, with heifers at 204.4p/kg.
