Recognition for food and farming

Davies NFU VICE president Meurig Raymond and his twin brother Mansel, NFU Cymru”s dairy board chairman, have both been recognised in the New Year Honours List.

The brothers, who farm in partnership in Pembrokeshire, were awarded MBEs for services to agriculture in Wales.

Patrick Holden, director of the Soil Association, was honoured for his services to organic farming. Mr Holden, who is also a partner in a mixed organic farm in west Wales, was made a CBE.

Pam Warhurst, deputy chairman, Countryside Agency, for services to the environment.

Celia Bennett, lately director, British Meat Processors Association, for services to the meat and livestock industries.

David Heather, lately deputy chief executive, Agricultural Industries Confederation, for services to the fertiliser industry.

Tony Pexton, chairman, Sustainable LINK Programme Management Committee and Assured Combinable Crops, for services to arable agriculture.

Graham Ward, chairman, NFU horticulture board, for services to horticulture.
