The application window for the Farm Business Grant for Yard Coverings is due to open on 9 November and will run for six weeks until 18 December, according to adviser Rostons.

Full details are not yet available, but eligible items are expected to include covers for slurry stores, silos and pits, which will help to improve water quality by reducing pollution.

Applicants will need to be primary producers, with a turnover of less than £1m and have at least 3ha of registered land.

The grant will cover 40% of the standard cost of the work being undertaken.

According to Rostons, it is likely that applicant will have 12 months from confirmation their application has been successful to complete the works and submit a claim

If the works require planning permission, this does not have to be granted when submitting the application, but must be available at the claim stage.

A second application round for the scheme is scheduled to open on 18 May 2021.
