Moy Park named top Northern Irish firm

Poultry processing giant Moy Park has been named as the top company in Northern Ireland, knocking supermarket giant Tesco down to second place.

Its rise to premier position in the list of the top 100 companies in Northern Ireland, as judged by the Belfast Telegraph, is attributed to its acquisition of O’Kane Poultry in May last year.

Working across 12 sites in Northern Ireland, England, France and The Netherlands, Moy Park employs 10,500 people, 2000 of which are based in Northern Ireland.

The managing director of Moy Park said it hadn’t lost its local focus, despite being acquired by the Brazilian food company Marfrig in 2008.

“Moy Park continues to operate as a stand-alone business within the wider Marfrig Group and has continued to expand and develop our fresh, high-quality, locally-farmed fresh poultry business,” said Nigel Dunlop.

“We continue to invest positively in growing this absolutely core part of our business both in Northern Ireland and in England.”
